Woman kills husband over child’s birthday celebration

A 23-year-old woman, Stella Peter who is currently being investigated by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing her husband over their daughter’s birthday party, has revealed that she did so because he refused to give her money.

According to Stella Peter who was arrested on Tuesday morning by homicide detectives attached to Surulere Division, for stabbing her husband, Bala Haruna to death, “I took a list of the items needed to celebrate my daughter’s birthday to my husband. He said he didn’t have money and we began to quarrel. Unfortunately it degenerated to a physical confrontation before I stabbed him with a kitchen knife at his back.”

Newsbeats learned that the couple who were not officially married, lived together at No 2 Tejuosho Avenue, Surulere lagos, for three years and have a little baby girl who just turned one.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana said that “The couple had an argument which turned violent and the woman used a kitchen knife to stab the man in the back which led to his death. The woman accused the man of refusing to release money for their daughter’s birthday party. Homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba have taken over the investigation.

The suspect has confessed to committing the Crime. She will be charged to Court for murder.”
