The event that took place on Saturday 13 July is a sad commentary on the level of treachery and falsehood orchestrated by Ebom just to achieve a sinister predetermined agenda. It’s an attempt at calling a dog a bad name in order to hang it.. On a number of occasions, the people of Usumutong have been on the receiving end of this smear campaign with physical attacks, threats premeditated on our farms, roads or the community. Till date the soldiers who were drafted to maintain order are still available. So who is the aggressor in this case.
Ebom has lost her sense of peace. As a community, conquest is a major aim for them. Until they dislodge Usumutong, they would continue to conjecture this form of falsehood. Our concern is, after Usumutong who next. As they have conquered Ebijakara and Igonigoni.
Let no one be fooled with this facade.
It’s on record that Ebom invaded our community recently, leaving in its wake destruction, killings, maiming and the like. The charred remains of the calamity visited upon us is still visible on our land. It must be emphasized that Ebom are the instigators, precursors, initiators and the aggressors in this matter. Their actions betray them as violence is their exclusive preserve. What crime has Usumutong community committed? By accommodating the people of Ebijakara that Ebom displaced years ago we incurred the wrath of Ebom. It is clear that they are being haunted by their conscience, if they have any left, and therefore are venting every frustration on the good and peace loving people of Usumutong. This people have a burning desire to displace Usumutong and inherit their heritage like they did to Ebijakara years ago. This intention is never hidden as they often boast in the open; in gatherings and even the social media.
It is in their character to whip up sentiments at the slightest opportunity to create a false impression for empathy, and then pronto, they strike. After committing these atrocities, they will rush to the press with propaganda that they are known for. They often commit themselves with our other neighbours and blame them on us. We are wiser this time. As earlier mentioned, it is the people of Usumutong that were attacked and two of our men ( Nkanu Okpa Nkanu from Enokpore Compound, aged 55 years and Ubi Honest Omet aged 37 years from Enokpore Compound) are still missing. A report was made to the Divisional Police Station at our local government headquarters to that effect.
The developmental strides being enjoyed in Usumutong Kingdom at present is a testament to the hospitality nature of our people. It is therefore no surprise that despite repeated hostilities against us by Ediba in cahoots with Ebom, we have refused to retaliate.
If Usumutong are not peace loving and accommodating, Ebijakara wouldn’t have stayed this long in our land. If Usumutong are not kind hearted, Ebom would have been invaded long ago by Ebijakara. We’ve always canvassed for peace in every fora since these crises started. This information is available in the public domain.
The Chief of Ebom should call his subjects to order. We stand for peace and development.
