Operatives from the Anambra State Police Command are currently investigating a murder suspect who allegedly killed a tricycle operator and made away with his tricycle.
The two suspects identified as Chizoba Nwoye and Anthony Charles who later received the tricycle, were arrested a month after a tricycle operator named Dumebi Oforkansi aged 25, of Ubarunisionye village, Nando in Anambra East LGA, was kidnapped by unknown persons and taken away along with his tricycle (Keke)while operating it for commercial purpose.
Newsbeats learned that the victim was kidnapped and killed on October 2nd, 2019 while he was working.
According to the 29-year-old Chizoba Nwoye, of Achalla-agu village Nteje in Oyi LGA of Anambra state, my friend Ezennia Nweke aka Abada of Achalla-Agu and I conspired and killed the victim. We buried the corpse inside the bush along Achalla-agu Nando road and made away with his keke”.
Sequel to the report, Policemen attached to the Command State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), arrested one Chizoba Nwoye who confessed that himself and one Ezennia Nweke aka Abada of Achalla-Agu allegedly conspired and killed the victim and buried the corpse inside the bush along Achalla-agu Nando road and made away with his keke”.
Consequently, Chizoba Nwoye led a team of Police detectives to the scene where the victim was buried in a shallow grave and his decomposing body was exhumed, and certified by a medical doctor in the presence of the deceased parents who equally identified the clothes he wore. Thereafter, the body was photographed and released to the deceased father for proper burial.
Meanwhile, the tricycle was recovered from Anthony Charles alias ‘Walter’ aged 27 years from Ebonyi State, who was also arrested.
However, the principal accomplice, Ezennia Nweke alias Abada of Achalla-agu, Nteje in Oyi LGA who allegedly conspired with Chizoba Nwoye to perpetrate the dastardly act is still on the run, and has been declared wanted by the Police.
Confirming the arrest, the Spokesperson Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed said the case is still under investigation after which both the murder suspects and the receiver would be charged to court for prosecution.
He added that the “Command enjoins Ndi Anambra and residents alike with useful information about the whereabout of Ezennia Nweke to contact the nearest Police Station/formations or call the Police emergency number 07039194332 for prompt action, please.”
