Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command are currently investigating three notorious armed robbers over their involvement in series of robbery operation and murders including the murder of policemen in Amukoko division.
The robbers who specialised in terrorising Igando/Egan residents at night, were nabbed after policemen attached to Igando division received intelligence report that some armed robbers were going for operation along that axis.
It was gathered that the robbers who stormed the area on three motorcycles with the intention to rob along Ikotun-Igando road met their waterloo as their attempt was foiled by a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer Igando, CSP Taiwo Kasumu.
In the process, one of the suspects Oseni Waheed was arrested at the scene with one locally made pistol while the rest escaped. During preliminary interrogation, Waheed led detectives to Aribisala Street in Egan where his fleeing accomplices were arrested at about 2:30am on Tuesday.
Confirming the arrest, the Spokesperson Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana said that the suspects were also on the wanted list of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba for series of robberies and murders including the murder of a Policeman under Amukoko Division during one of their robbery operations. Investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged to Court”.
Similarly, while acting on credible Intelligence, detectives attached to Ilemba Hausa Division arrested two car Snatchers and recovered a stolen vehicle on the 11th of September at about 11:30pm.
It was gathered that the suspects either specialized in snatching vehicles from the owners or stealing the vehicles from where they are parked.
According to the police, the suspects identified as Gidion Amuzie aged 25 and Godspower Imafidion aged 25 who reside at Satellite town Lagos, snatched and hid a black Honda accord 2007 model at jemilugba street ilogbo Lagos.
During police investigation, Gidion Amuzie and Godspower Imafidion confessed that they stole the vehicle at a car wash in satellite town Lagos. Investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged to Court.
In a related development, Police attached to area J Command, intercepted a van along Itafaji Street, Lagos Island loaded with twenty bags of Cannabis leaves. The driver of the Van, Usman Adeyemi aged 27 was arrested while the vehicle was impounded for discreet investigation which is ongoing.
