JCI partners with SUBEB to improve quality of education in Oyo State


JCI Ibadan Elite, a local organization of Junior Chamber International, has secured the approval of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYO-SUBEB) to commence its Adopt a School program with the adoption of Seventh Day Adventist Primary School, IK Dairo, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Chairman of the project committee, JC Simeon Olatunde, identified the focus areas as renovation works for the six blocks of classrooms, building a fence, provision of learning materials and equipping a library.

In a letter signed by Mrs Akinde N.P for the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, the board expressed gratitude to JCI for her “patriotic gesture towards improving the academic environment of the school, thereby making the school conducive to learning.”

Commenting on the development, the President of JCI Ibadan Elite, JC Sanmi Abiodun, commended the Oyo state government and the Universal Basic Education Board for their commitment to improving the quality of education in the state as expressed in the positive disposition to the intervention of active citizens.

“We are doing this as our commitment to the generation behind us,” he said. “Those pupils deserve better learning conditions and we should be proud to be the ones privileged to make education better for them.”

The project was flagged off on Saturday August 3, 2019 with a working picnic where members of the organization gathered to commence the first phase of the project with the building of the frontal part of the fence and the flooring of classrooms in one of the blocks.
