An eighteen-year-old suspect, Elikor Ehud who is currently being detained in one of the cells at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, has recounted how he broke into the church’s treasury and stole 670,000 naira from tithes and offerings.
According to Elikor Ehud who was arrested by policemen attached to Ejigbo Division, “On September 30, 2019, after Church Service, I broke the wooden Boxes placed on the Altar meant for Tithes and offering and stole the money.”
After I counted the money, I discovered that the total amount I stole was six hundred and seventy thousand naira (#670,000.00) cash from the Church Boxes. My friend Lucky is my accomplice.”.
It was learned that Elikor Ehud was arrested after police received a report from Pastor Moses Nwoke of Divine Chosen Vine Ministry, located at Furniture Avenue, Ejigbo.
It was gathered that after a thorough and painstaking Investigation conducted by Ejigbo Police Station under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer, the suspect was apprehended on October 15th, 2019.
Explaining how they discovered that the tithes and offerings have disappeared Pastor Moses, said that “After Church Service, unknown persons broke the wooden Boxes placed on the Altar meant for Tithes and Special Seeds of Faith Offering, and stole the money”. So the next day, I reported the case to the police.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana said that, the suspect was arrested for stealing tithes and offerings in a church. After a thorough and painstaking Investigation conducted by Ejigbo Police Station under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer, the suspect named Elikor Ehud was arrested on 15th October, 2019. He confessed to the crime. Efforts are being made to apprehend the said accomplice. The suspect will be charged to Court.”
