Cameroonian shipping magnate, wife stabbed in Lagos

The Managing Director of a Shipping Company alongside his wife, were attacked in Lagos, leading to the death of his wife.

The incident occurred on Sunday around 11p.m. at their Lugard, Ikoyi residence after a birthday party for one of their children.

Newsbeats learned that few hours after the party ended, their power went off. Their estate electrician was said to have knocked at their gate with the pretense to fix the fuse in their apartment which he said, caused the power outage.

The electrician and his friend used the opportunity of the power outage to attack the couple; the wife, identified as Gildas Tohouo, a Hungarian citizen was stabbed to death, while the husband, a Cameroonian was seriously attacked and is battling to survive at the hospital.

A police source said, the electrician identified as Ade Akanbi said he begged the deceased husband to assist him, because he refused to assist him that was why he came with his friend to attack the couple.

Also, arrested was Olamide Goke who accompanied the electrician to the victims’ house to carry out the operation.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Bala Elkana said, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu swiftly moved to the scene of the incident where the house was cordoned off.

The CP, however, ordered the homicide detectives attached to the State Criminal Investigative and Intelligence Department to the scene and directed them to go after the suspect, fortunately two suspects were arrested.

Elkana further said: “The two suspects arrested were helping the police in investigating the matter.”
