The Lagos State Police Command is currently investigating an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Theophilus Otobo and a Police Inspector, Oguntoba Olamigoke for shooting a 17-year-old girl.

The duo attached to Bariga Police Station on 26th May, 2020 at about 10:45, fired shots from their pin-down point along Berger by third mainland bridge, in a circumstance yet to be determined, injuring a 35-year-old man, Musa Yakubu in the process, while a stray bullet hit the teenage girl, Tina Ezekwe at Berger Yanaworu Bus stop.

It was learned that the bullet pierced through the left upper side of her lap. She was rushed to hospital by a team of Policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer.

Unfortunately, Tina died on 28th May, 2020, at about 9:29pm in the hospital.
However the second person, Musa Yakubu is in stable condition.

Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered an in depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 17-year-old Tina Ezekwe.

Calling for calm, Odumosu assured the victim’s family that the perpetrators of this dastardly act will face the full weight of the law.

He reiterated his stance on zero tolerance for impunity and promised that members of the public will be updated on the outcome of the investigation.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana said the Police is in contact with the families of the victims from the day of the incident.
